Tyson Fury v Otto Wallin Boxing Betting Tips
At 21.co.uk we may commonly be known for our slots uk but this tipster has takena break from the casino landscape to focus on Heavyweight boxing. The landscape in heavyweight boxing has changed dramatically in the past year. Coming back from his two and half year boxing exile after his stunning victory against Wladimir Klitschko, Tyson Fury wasn’t considered by many to be a credible threat to the two World Champions - Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder. Within six months, however, he had won two warm-up fights before heading to the US to take on Wilder at the Staples Centre in LA. What followed was an exhibition in heavyweight boxing showing why he was the man to finally dethrone Klitchsko. Apart from two knockdowns in the ninth and twelfth rounds, Fury was considered by many to have won every other round. The bout was declared a somewhat controversial draw with a rematch rumoured to be scheduled in early 2020.
Joshua’s shock loss to Ruiz in the meantime means that the true champion of the division remains disputed. That’s a question that will be answered on another day but in this boxing betting preview we will be looking forward to Fury’s fight against little known boxer Otto Wallin as he looks to continue his comeback. The fight for the WBO Inter-Continental crown takes place in the USA and 21.co.uk’s resident tipster is here to give you his take on the action.
Tyson Fury v Otto Wallin Boxing Betting Preview
It will probably come as no surprise that we’re backing Fury to win in Nevada. The self proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ should prove 2 fast for his Swedish opponent. While Otto Wallin is unbeaten, with what looks like an impressive 20-0 record, he has fought nobody of real note in the heavyweight division. This means his true level is unknown so it is almost impossible to believe he will be the first person to beat Fury barring a monumental upset. The boxing betting odds reflect this, at 1/100 there is very little value to be had on backing Fury to win outright with more value to be found in betting on the nature of the result.
Aside from the aforementioned draw against Wilder, Fury has a flawless record. With 28 victories including against the likes of Kiltschko and Chisora he has a reputation for being hard to land a punch on. However, for a heavyweight boxer, his knockout percentage is perhaps slightly below what you would expect. 20 of his 28 wins have come before the final bell sounds giving him a 71% knockout rate when he wins. This compares to Wilder’s 98% and Joshua’s 95% knockout win rate. The discrepancy is probably down to Fury’s style where he uses his height and reach advantage to keep his opponents at a distance. We still feel as though he will win this one by KO - available at boxing odds of 10/31. Wallin has never fought a fighter of Fury’s caliber and so we feel the power of Fury’s punches will be too much for him to make the distance.
Over/Under Number of Rounds
While we feel Fury will get the knockout we’re backing Wallin to go deep into the fight. As previously stated his record is inflated by the fact he hasn’t fought one of the leading contenders in the division but we feel he might be able to last over 7.5 rounds. He has won seven of his 20 fights by decision suggesting that he isn’t the type of boxer to commit heavily to achieving the knockout. Being down on points late in the fight, however, might leave him exposed. At boxing odds of 25/29, this may be worth a bet.
Long Shot of the Bout
In keeping with other betting tips today here at 21.co.uk, we look to provide you with a long shot tip that might be worth a couple of pounds. The only real long boxing betting odds available, if you think Fury will win like we do, is to pick the round that he wins in. This makes it a real punt as there are many factors that can affect this prediction. We think that Wallin will make it to around round 10 - so our long shot tip is exactly that - available at betting odds of 14/1.
