Euro 2021 Home Nations Betting Preview Week Three
As we head into the final group games of Euro 2021, it seems as though many of the results have gone exactly how we thought. Italy dominated Group A and have already secured their spot in the final stages, so the hope is they’ll put out a weakened side that Wales could potentially overcome.
England vs Scotland didn’t go as many fans expected at all. The Scots managed to snag a point at Wembley and given England’s performance, they’ll need to pull something special out of the bag against Czechia to finish top of the group.
Wales vs Italy Betting Preview
Although we're still quite a way from the competition's main knockout stages, Italy has already cemented themselves as potential tournament winners with two 3-0 wins over Switzerland and Turkey. On the other hand, Wales has yet to really take off. Even with a 2-0 win in their last game, Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale will need to step up and offer the Dragons more of an attacking flair if they're going to progress.
Looking ahead to the clash between Italy and Wales, the team to go for is the Azure. Ciro Immobile has found the back of the net in both games, and Manuel Locatelli also found his scoring boots, which could mean a fest of goals if the Welsh defence struggle to cope with the high flying Italians.
Given the fact Wales need to step up once again in order to compete, we’re going for a 3-0 win to Italy.
England vs Czech Republic Betting Preview
Following a draw with Scotland, England will still need a win against the Czech Republic to finish top of the group and finish in a key position for the knockout stages. The Czechs certainly won’t be a pushover after giving Croatia a run for their money, meaning the Three Lions will have to pull out all the stops at Wembley on Tuesday.
Given the fact that the big players haven’t stepped up including captain Harry Kane, we’d like to see Gareth Southgate ring the changes and give other players a chance in an attacking role including Jack Grealish, Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Sako. The hope is they’ll play for the place in the team, and offer something a little different to what’s already been shown at Euro 2021.
Czechia have proven themselves to be no slouches when it comes to big tournaments, and given a strong performance against Scotland and Croatia, they’ll give England a game.
Despite that, we’re still going for a win for the Three Lions with a score of 2-0 in the hope that the defence will keep another clean sheet.
Scotland vs Croatia Betting Preview
The Scots have turned it around at Euro 2021, and although they’ll still need to defeat Croatia to have even a small chance of qualifying for the next round, it’s all about pride for Steve Clarke’s men.
In both previous games, the Scots have shown hints of quality, with Scott McTominay, Che Adams, Kieran Tiernay and Andy Roberston showing their Premier League prowess. However, they weren’t put in the best of groups, with two semi-finalists from the 2018 World Cup meaning they always had an uphill battle.
This last group game against Croatia is the chance to get three points. Back at Hampden Park, the Tartan Army will be behind the team and this could give them the extra motivation to pick up the result.
On the other hand, Croatia are still looking for their first win in Euro 2021. Certainly something we didn’t expect to be saying, Luka Modric, Ivan Perisic and Ante Rebic will need to step up their game if they want to get a result, let alone make it through to the knockout stages.
That said, as both teams are looking for a result, we think there could be goals in this game, so we’re going for a 2-2 draw, with the optimism that Scotland can show the rest of Europe what they’ve been missing.
Euro 2021 Home Nations Betting Preview Week Two
The first week of group games in Euro 2021 couldn’t have gone any better for Gareth Southgate and England. A win over Croatia at Wembley secured three points, and a defeat for Scotland to the Czech Republic means a win over the Scots could see them qualify for the knockout stages.
Unfortunately, we could not say the same for the other home nations. Scotland went down 2-0 at Hampden Park with goalkeeper David Marshall conceding from the halfway line and Wales only managing to secure a 1-1 draw with Switzerland in their opening match.
But with the second week of games about to commence, we’re taking a look at how we think the teams will get on as England take on Scotland in one of the tournament games.
England vs Scotland Betting Preview
The stage of Wembley Stadium is set as England take on their oldest rival Scotland in tournament football for the first time since 1996. Full of confidence following a win over Croatia, the Three Lions should go all out against a Scotland side who didn't perform well against the Czechs, who scored what could potentially turn out to be the goal of the tournament.
Although the score was only 1-0 against a strong Croatia side, Phil Foden, Harry Kane, and goalscorer Raheem Sterling showed they could create chances in front of goal. And with the likes of Jack Grealish and Marcus Rashford in reserve, we're predicting a whole host of goals within this game.
Scotland will need to pull something out of the bag if they're to get a result against England. Lyndon Dykes, Che Adams, and Kevin Nisbet all tried to trouble the Czech goal, but sadly, they didn't find the target. Kieran Tierney also missed that game, and given the fact he's been a key player for Arsenal, the Tartan Army will be hoping he starts against England.
Wales vs Turkey Betting Preview
Within Group A, Italy looks the side to beat, which obviously leaves second spot up for grabs. However, after a 1-1 draw with the Swiss, Wales will need to up their game against Turkey to get a result and secure second spot.
It has to be said that Wales were fortunate to secure that point in Baku, and that goal should secure Kieffer Moore’s starting berth for this game. Aaron Ramsey and Gareth Bale should also start for the Dragons, but with Harry Wilson pushing for a place, could one of that duo start the game from the bench?
On the other hand, Turkey will be looking to bounce back from a 3-0 defeat against Italy, but given the fact they barely troubled the Italian defence in their opening game, we’re going for another score draw in this game.
England 2021 Betting Preview
Back at the 2018 World Cup, the fact England almost made it through to the final sent the country into hysterics. So imagine if they could finally get their hands on an international trophy for the first time since 1966. Well, given that the final of Euro 2021 is at Wembley, chances are the ‘Three Lions’ will be looking to secure the crown, but to do that, they’ll not only have to make it out of the group, they’ll also have to make it past Scotland.
England are currently one of the tournament favourites, closely behind France, and it’s expected that they’ll have the talent to top Group D ahead of Croatia and the Czech Republic. To do that, they’ll need Harry Kane, Mason Mount and Phil Foden on top form and a defence strong enough to stop the likes of Ivan Perisic (Croatia) and Tomas Soucek (Czech Republic), both of whom are known to many of the squad.
England v Croatia Betting Preview
** Sunday 13th June - 2pm**
The Three Lions’ first game of the tournament is against their recent nemesis Croatia, the team that eliminated them from the World Cup in 2018. Many fans will be hoping they can get the upper hand and offer some revenge in the opening group game. In terms of a starting 11, we expect to see Harry Kane leading the line in the familiar number 9 role, but will it be Marcus Rashford or Jadon Sancho who get the nod alongside the Spurs man?
In terms of Croatia, it looks as though they’ll need to step up their game before heading into the competition. Finishing their warm-up friendlies with a 1-0 defeat by Belgium, the team did pick up three back to back wins in March during World Cup Qualification. Known names within their starting 11 should include Luka Modric, Dejan Lovren and Ivan Perisic, but we think England might have too much firepower for them this time around and should take a comfortable win.
Scotland Euro 2021 Betting Preview
Qualifying for the Euros for the first time since 1996, Scotland haven’t exactly been given an easy route to make it to the knockout stages. Drawn in a group with not only England, a team who they’ve failed to defeat since 1999, but Croatia and the Czech Republic as well, it’s highly unlikely they’ll make it out of the group stages.
Scotland’s 26 man squad is littered with talent from both the Premier League and the Championship, all of whom are recognisable names to all UK fans watching the competition. To name but a few; Andy Robertson, Kieran Tierney, Scott McTominay and Che Adams will likely take their place in the starting lineup for their opening game against the Czech Republic, but it seems as though they’ll have to fight for a result.
Scotland vs Czech Republic Betting Preview
Monday 14th June - 2pm
During the Uefa Nations League last year, the Tartan Army managed to pick up two victories over the Czech Republic, and they’ll be looking for the same result here again. Southampton striker Che Adams has the chance to make a name for himself on the international stage should he find the net in the opening game, and with the available crosses in the box, we would bet on him being the first player to score in the game.
The Czech Republic won’t go into this game lying down, especially with Tomas Soucek in the squad, but they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet in their last five games, something they’ll need to rectify to get a win here. Not only that, they’ll be taking on a Scotland side playing at home, so we’re going for a victory for the home side here.
Wales Euro 2021 Betting Preview
Wales start the tournament in Group A, alongside Switzerland, Turkey and Italy, so there is a strong chance, if results fall their way, that the Dragons can make it to the knockout stage. Chris Coleman’s heroics of the 2016 tournament where Wales made it to the semi-finals will still be in the minds of many fans, and with the core of that team still intact, just with added youngsters, we see no reason why the Welsh flag won’t fly high.
Of course, the man to watch in the red shirt will be Gareth Bale. Although the team has a strong defensive foundation, they will be reliant on his firepower and technical ability to find the back of the net. But with Aaron Ramsey, Dan James, and Harry Wilson also talented in front of goal, they are definitely one of the teams to watch.
Wales vs Switzerland Betting Preview
Saturday 12th June - 2pm
Both Wales and Switzerland will have their eyes on a place in the knockout stages of Euro 2021, which means we might have a cagey opening game to the tournament. Wales aren’t known for their qualification for major tournaments, but they saw a strong run of unbeaten results during qualification, so they will be looking to continue that here.
On the other hand, Switzerland seems to be a team that can’t make it out of groups, having failed to surpass that in previous renditions of this tournament. However, the Swiss are unbeaten in their last six games and given that only 12 teams rank above them in Europe, they’ll expect a strong performance.
With that in mind, here at 21.co.uk, we’re going for a competitive 1-1 draw as the result, meaning both teams should get to flex their muscles but also come out of the game with a favourable outcome.
