Fantasy Football Tips: March
We’re entering the last ten games of the season and realistically at this point, you can still catch up 150 points on those who are still playing. However, picking the right players for gameweek 31 and gameweek 36 is essential for example, teams like Manchester City are going to have three double gameweeks between now and the end of the season and their final one may be a fantastic time to use the triple captain if you haven’t already used it. We predicted 47 from our trio in the month of March but unfortunately due to some surprise team selections by Southampton, this wasn’t the case as Ings picked up just 10 points instead of the predicted 19. However, our tipster had a good month in total and is looking to improve even further in March.
Willy Boly - 4.8 Million
Our first pick is the cheapest Wolves defender that is guaranteed to start, with fixtures against Brighton, West Ham and Bournemouth this month, the Wanderers could be set for a massive month in their hunt for European Football, the only negative of their month from a Fantasy Football point of view is the fact that they have both legs of the Europa League Vs Olympiacos this month which could mean that players who have just returned from injury like Boly could miss out in some of their easier fixtures.
|Gameweek 29||Brighton (H)||7 Points|
|Gameweek 30||West Ham (A)||2 Points|
|Gameweek 31||Bournemouth (H)||6 Points|
We’re expecting Boly to be crucial in their first game of the month as they play Brighton, Brighton will try and get the ball into the box as much as possible and we think that Boly could make a lot of interceptions and clearances, two attacking players may get the top bonus points but Boly should be in with a strong shout of picking up the third. We think West Ham will score against Wolves and could even win the game with it being just three days after Wolves play in Greece. They will benefit from home advantage when they play Bournemouth and with just 8 teams playing in Gameweek 31, this is a week where any points are valuable.
Joe Gomez - 5.3 Million
The England centre-back was dropped for Dejan Lovren for their game against Watford and subsequently, we saw one of the worst defensive performances in Liverpool history from the Croatian. Which means Gomez’s return to the Liverpool first team is practically guaranteed this week in our opinion, Klopp will see Bournemouth as a good test for Atletico Madrid as both are likely to sit back and attempt breakaways. The only worry we would have is their game in gameweek 31 where they play Crystal Palace, however, with there being an international break following, Klopp should play a full-strength side.
|Gameweek 29||Bournemouth (H)||6 Points|
|Gameweek 30||Everton (A)||2 Points|
|Gameweek 31||Crystal Palace (H)||6 Points|
We predict that Bournemouth will be Liverpool’s 27th win of the season and their 13th clean sheet of the campaign as long as Klopp doesn’t rest players ahead to their fixture against Atletico Madrid. However, Everton could be a different question entirely, they were humiliated in the League Cup and you would think they might take a more attacking approach this time around. Then they face Crystal Palace and considering the international break is coming up, this shouldn’t be a game where Klopp rests his key players meaning that they should take a win and what you would assume as their 14th clean sheet of the season.
Jarrod Bowen - 6.5 Million
This may come as a surprise when you see that Spurs play four of the top ten in their next four fixtures. However, when you look at the fixtures they actually shine for West Ham offensively and with Jarrod Bowen coming into the side and putting in a fantastic performance as an inside forward cutting inside of the right-hand side and causing all sorts of problems for Ryan Bertrand and Jan Bednarek. We can see Bowen being quite popular this month.
|Gameweek 29||Arsenal (A)||5 Points|
|Gameweek 30||Wolves (H)||2 Points|
|Gameweek 31||Spurs (A)||7 Points|
On paper, West Ham have three very tough games in March. However, Arsenal need a reaction after Olympiacos and I don’t think we’ll get one. I think West Ham will take a point from this one thanks to a Bowen assist, Wolves will be a game where they struggle but could easily pick up points due to the fact Wolves play Olympiacos three days beforehand. Next up they play Spurs in Gameweek 31 and we think Bowen could be the gamechanger, you may have noticed that all of our predictions are players we predict getting a good amount of points in gameweek 31, simply because if the people you’re against haven’t prepared, you could easily gain 30-40 points on them in one week.
Who to Avoid
Jack Grealish - 6.6 Million
21% of players have Grealish currently in their squads, which isn’t a surprise as he is a fantastic player. However, with Leicester, Chelsea, Wolves, Liverpool and Man United as their next five games and a guaranteed 0 in gameweek 31, looking elsewhere is definitely the right call with Grealish. However, as they have games against Newcastle and Sheffield United to be reorganised approximately around week 35 and 36, getting Grealish back into your squads for their mid-April clash with Manchester United could be a fantastic opportunity as Villa will likely need points to survive and will be chasing the pack.
John Lundstram - 4.9 Million
The midfielder mistakenly put down as a defender has revolutionised the Fantasy Football game this season picking up 116 points in 27 games which is an average of 4.2 points a game. However, Lundstram hasn’t started in United’s last four games and with games against Norwich and Newcastle coming up, he will likely miss any clean sheet points they get. If you want to stick with a Sheffield United player, Jack O’Connell could be a fantastic shout. However, we recommend taking either Willy Boly or Joe Gomez.
Jamie Vardy - 9.7 Million
The Vardy Party looks all but over at the minute as the striker hasn’t scored since December and although Leicester have Villa and Watford to play this month, the chances of a Vardy goal look minimal. For the 9.7 your saving, we recommend bringing in the likes of Diogo Jota or Troy Deeney.
