Matchday 31: Barcelona Vs Athletic Bilbao Match Preview
Barcelona’s bore draw with Sevilla may turn out to be their downfall at the end of the season. There was a clear lack of creativity and the disappointment was clear to see at the end of the game. However, Messi and co need to brush themselves down and start again against Athletic Bilbao, who are unbeaten since the return to football. When Barcelona lost to Real Madrid in March, you had a feeling it would end up having title implications, however, as opponents Bilbao face Real Madrid in two weeks, they could have more of an impact on the title than any other side in the league. Bilbao have also kept clean sheets against Barcelona in their last two league outings with the visitors winning 1-0 in the reverse fixture earlier in the season thanks to a late goal by 39-year-old Aritz Aduriz.
Barcelona have a few worries when it comes to injuries with Ousmane Dembele out until August but it is the injuries to Sergio Roberto and Frenkie De Jong that will have Barcelona slightly worried about their squad depth.
Athletic Bilbao have two absences going into this game as left-back Yuri has been suspended for this match and Benat who has been missing through injury since the league restarted.
Matchday 30 Sevilla Vs Barcelona Match Preview
Sevilla will come into this match disappointed after a late own goal by Diego Carlos led to a 1-1 draw in Levante after Sevilla dominated for the majority of the match. On Friday they take on a Barcelona side who haven’t conceded in their first two games since the restart. The most worrying aspect for Sevilla is that Lionel Messi has looked like a man possessed, he has been unstoppable since the restart and it looks inevitable that he will grab his 700th goal in Seville. Sevilla lost 4-0 in the reverse fixture but they do tend to score against the big teams, they don’t get results most of the time but they do go out to score.
Jordi Alba returns from suspension which will see Junior Firpo return to the bench. Luis Suarez will likely not be risked once again but other than Suarez and Ousmane Dembele who will likely return in August, Barcelona have very few injury worries.
Sevilla on the other hand have a full squad to choose from as Fernando returned to the bench against Levante.
Matchday 28: Mallorca Vs Barcelona Match Preview
The big story surrounding Barcelona betting at the moment isn’t their game with Mallorca, as Spanish newspapers state that sources close to Neymar Jr. believe the Brazilian is ‘certain’ a move to Barcelona will materialise in the summer, which makes us question the futures of Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann and the injured Ousmane Dembele. However, their immediate future is in Mallorca where the relegation-threatened side will be looking to cause an upset.
Clement Lenglet is suspended for Barcelona but as Samuel Umtiti is set to return, Lenglet would have been reduced to a spot on the bench regardless. Nelson Semedo will only make the bench after picking up a knock in training while we think that Luis Suarez will only be fit enough to make the bench after a lengthy absence. This will see emergency signing Martin Braithwaite start upfront. It is likely that Lionel Messi will start, even if he isn’t 100% fit
Mallorca are reasonably clean when it comes to injuries in all but one position - left-back as both Lumor Agbenyenu and Leonardo Kuitris have been ruled out but it looks like Chelsea loanee Abdul Rahman Baba will be fit after being injured since October.
