NBA Week Fourteen Betting Tips
Blackjack's favourite UK casino 21.co.uk is back wih more fantastic NBA Betting Tips. Four out of five in our week 13 NBA betting tips has us in high spirits, as we correctly gave some underdogs the nod in some difficult match ups. This week could be a perfect run, as we’ve selected five fixtures that involve teams that we feel we know quite well. Old rivals Boston Celtics and LA Lakers meet in Massachusetts, while Western Conference challengers Dallas Mavericks and LA Clippers clash in Texas. In the Eastern Conference, playoff rivals Toronto Raptors and Philadelphia 76ers battle it out north of the border, while playoff hopefuls Cleveland Cavaliers and Washington Wizards try to get their NBA campaigns back on track in Ohio. Finally, Golden State Warriors travel to Indiana, looking to avoid a landslide defeat at the home of the Pacers.
LA Lakers @ Boston Celtics, Tuesday 21st January, 00:30 GMT
It’s fair to say Boston Celtics didn’t have the best time of it last week. A convincing win over Chicago Bulls was swiftly followed up by three losses on the spin. While a 5-point defeat on the road at Milwaukee Bucks is understandable, being humiliated by Detroit Pistons and then slipping to Phoenix Suns - both at TD Garden - is something that Celtics fans would not have been expecting, and the immediate knock-on effect is that they’re now left desperately clinging on to 4th in the Eastern Conference. They will need their entire roster to up their game, with Kemba Walker (who leads the side on points per game and assists) and Jaylen Brown questionable for involvement in this one.
Speaking of injury doubts, LA Lakers are assessing Anthony Davis on a day-to-day basis, but he looks likely to have minimal involvement either way. He’s been missing since the New York Knicks game a couple of weeks ago, but his team have still won four out of five games without him. The only blip in that spell occurred last Thursday, as Orlando Magic secured an incredible single-point win at the Staples Center, but a convincing win at Houston Rockets has eliminated any doubts that may have been beginning to creep in. This is the first meeting between the two this season, and both will be desperate for bragging rights, but if we're looking at online betting markets we only see a Lakers win.
LA Clippers @ Dallas Mavericks, Wednesday 22nd January, 01:30 GMT
Dallas Mavericks have been an exceptional team in large portions of this NBA season, and frequently appear in our betting tips. While this is often as an underdog, they’re starting to get the recognition they deserve as serious challengers, as people begin to look past star man Luka Doncic and see that the rest of the roster packs a punch. 7’3” forward Kristaps Porzingis is in line to return to the fold, having missed ten straight games with a knee injury, something that will further boost morale around the American Airlines Center. It’ll take more than a partisan crowd to solve their issues with wing defense though.
Last week LA Clippers responded well to a road loss at Denver Nuggets by putting together a run of three consecutive wins; demolishing Cleveland Cavaliers and Orlando Magic at the Staples Center by a combined scoreline of 250-198, before winning by 3 points at New Orleans Pelicans. While the Mavericks represent opposition of a similar calibre to the Nuggets, the Clippers will be confident, as Kawhi Leonard remains in top form. They also already know that they can beat the Mavericks on their turf, having won 114-99 in Dallas back in November, and they’ll be keen to keep hold of the bragging rights.
Philadelphia 76ers @ Toronto Raptors, Thursday 23rd January, 00:00 GMT
Since losing to Miami Heat over two weeks ago, Toronto Raptors have looked very good, winning five of their subsequent seven, and only losing to Portland Trail Blazers and San Antonio Spurs by a combined total of three points. A trip to Atlanta Hawks on Monday evening should be fairly routine for the reigning NBA champions, and if they can secure their win, they’ll be more than prepared to do battle with the 76ers, who are one of their main challengers in the Eastern Conference. They’ll also be buoyed by the fact that in the two previous meetings this season, the home side has won by at least five points.
Philadelphia 76ers went from two road defeats in a row to a run of three consecutive wins last week, as they held off Brooklyn Nets and Chicago Bulls at Wells Fargo Center before edging past New York Knicks. They face the Nets again before this encounter, and the result of that is likely to have a huge bearing on their trip to Toronto. Lacklustre performances away from home have been their downfall, with the 76ers losing their six games on the road prior to that narrow win over the Knicks. Ben Simmons, Josh Richardson, Tobias Harris, and Furkan Korkmaz will be keen to keep up their impressive recent performances in the absence of Joel Embiid.
Washington Wizards @ Cleveland Cavaliers, Friday 24th January, 00:00 GMT
It’s fair to say that neither of these sides are having the greatest season, but Cleveland Cavaliers are enduring a worse time. They’ve played two games more than their opposition, but they’ve lost three games more, and the dizzying high of earning consecutive road wins at Denver Nuggets and Detroit Pistons was swiftly stamped out by four losses in a row against LA Lakers, LA Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, and Chicago Bulls. They’ll need to find a win against the struggling New York Knicks and the Wizards this week to maintain any slim hopes of making the playoffs, as John Beilein’s side are a far cry from their 2016 counterparts.
At 21.co.uk, we had Washington Wizards to finish bottom of the Southeast Division and 13th in the Eastern Conference, but with Atlanta Hawks performing so poorly, they are still in with an outside chance of sneaking into the playoffs. To do that though, they need to put a generally poor first half of the NBA season behind them, and turn their attention to their defensive problems. Isaiah Thomas has been vocal about his side’s need to enhance that side of their game, by improving trust and communication, but the issues created by conceding at least 100 points on all but two occasions this season will seemingly take more than that to fix. Still, they could win here.
Indiana Pacers @ Golden State Warriors, Saturday 25th January, 03:30 GMT
Golden State Warriors have been woeful this NBA season, but while we know that they’ve had something of an injury crisis, you can’t help but wonder if their problems go deeper than that. Steph Curry has said he’s aiming for a March 1st return, but that will surely be too late for a side that sits rock bottom of the Western Conference, having won just 10 of 34 games. One of those came in their most recent game, against Orlando Magic at the Chase Center, but given that they’d lost ten in a row before then, a trip to Portland Trail Blazers, and home clashes with Utah Jazz and the Pacers this week could curtail their positivity.
Indiana Pacers will be without Victor Oladipo for another week or so, but they certainly haven’t missed the two-time NBA All-Star as much as they’d feared. They find themselves narrowly missing out on a top four position as it stands, which is easily remedied if they add to their current run of five games won in a row. That sequence has seen them take down Eastern Conference rivals Philadelphia 76ers, while also breezing past Western Conference high-flyers Denver Nuggets. With all of this in mind, it will surely be a chance for TJ Warren, Malcolm Brogdon, Domantas Sabonis, and Doug McDermott to put the Warriors to the sword.
