There are two fiery clashes in the upper echelons as the Heat travel to the 76ers and the Bucks welcome the Lakers. Finally, could an upset be on the cards on Saturday morning, as the Celtics and the Pistons close out this week’s NBA Betting Tips?

Portland Trail Blazers @ Phoenix Suns, Tuesday 17th December, 02:00 GMT

Phoenix Suns have been performing well above expectations so far this season, hovering just outside the top eight, but with the same win percentage as Oklahoma City Thunder who are just ahead of them. The Suns have played 60% of their games at the Talking Stick Resort Arena, but they’ll be looking to turn around their current 6-9 win/loss record in Arizona in this one, but having center Deandre Ayton back after his 25 game suspension should be handy.

The three game winning run for Portland Trail Blazers at the end of last month has kept them fighting for a playoff place, although they’ll need to start stringing wins together again if they’re to move into serious contention. They lost at Denver Nuggets in their most recent game, and getting their playoff challenge back on track will be made harder by the absence of Rodney Hood, Zach Collins, and Jusuf Nurkic - particularly when rebounds have been an issue recently. We're kicking off with betting odds of 20/21 on the Phoenix Suns.

Moneyline Full Time - Phoenix Suns (20/21)

Orlando Magic @ Utah Jazz, Wednesday 18th December, 02:00 GMT

Utah Jazz continue to pull up trees in the 2019/20 NBA season, as they boast a win percentage just shy of 58% with Christmas around the corner. This has very much been down to performances at Vivint Smart Home Arena, with 10 wins and 3 defeats to show so far. A difficult start to this month (losing to the Raptors, 76ers, and Lakers) has been offset by boasting a 3-1 record in the games since, including a confidence boosting 114-106 win over Golden State Warriors last time out.

Currently, Orlando Magic represent the best of the rest in the Eastern Conference, although they’ll have ambitions of grinding out results over the festive period to make their position more secure. The Magic’s four game winning run swiftly became a three game losing streak, but an 11 point win at New Orleans Pelicans stopped the rot. Nikola Vucevic and Evan Fournier are in friendly competition with each other, but will both need to contribute if the Magic are to win here.

Spread Full Time - Orlando Magic +5.5 (20/21)

Miami Heat @ Philadelphia 76ers, Thursday 19th December, 00:00 GMT

We’ve said a lot about Philadelphia 76ers, including tipping them for the NBA crown in our NBA season preview, but their strong performances at Wells Fargo Center have been nothing short of outstanding. In fact, they’re the only side in the NBA with their 100% home record still intact, although they’ll have to be wary of a Heat team full of confidence, particularly when the 76ers are still reeling from a 20 point loss to Brooklyn Nets.

Miami Heat have been formidable in many of their games this year, and have rightly propelled themselves into second place in the Eastern Conference. Three of their last four games have come down to overtime, but they’ve passed the test posed by each of them. That said, the main issue for the Heat has been their performances against the top teams, with six of their seven losses coming against the likes of the Celtics, Lakers, Rockets, and Nuggets. Crucially, they also lost by 27 when they came here earlier this season, but we can see them being more defensive this time.

Total Points - Under 209.5 (Evens)

LA Lakers @ Milwaukee Bucks, Friday 20th December, 01:00 GMT

We’re pleased to say that at we predicted the Bucks to top the Eastern Conference (although ultimately lose out in the playoffs) come the end of the season, but even we didn’t think they’d be boasting an 18 game win streak at this stage. The fact that they’ve only lost three games in total from 27 is another huge feat, and Mike Buldenhozer can be incredibly proud of his side. The first meeting of the season with LA Lakers represents the toughest test possible at the moment, however.

LA Lakers have lost on game per month so far, but when they lost at Dallas Mavericks on December 1st, it looked like that trend would come to an end. Seven games later though, they’re still on course to keep it up, although Milwaukee Bucks will be no pushovers. LeBron James and Anthony Davis continue their good-natured rivalry for the top scorer plaudits, but Avery Bradley and Danny Green must be alert on the defensive end in this clash with a Bucks side likely to employ similar tactics.

Total Points - Under 224.5 (Evens)

Detroit Pistons @ Boston Celtics, Saturday 21st December, 00:30 GMT

Not for the first time this season, Boston Celtics have followed up a good run of form with a surprise loss and issues against big teams, this time losing 122-177 at Indiana Pacers and then 109-115 to Philadelphia 76ers. The Celtics will have had a fair few days to get their sharpness back up before they play at Dallas Mavericks on Thursday morning, before what they will be viewing as two wins at TD Garden against Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Hornets.

The Pistons have a flair for the theatrical at the moment, which they demonstrated in a 115-107 win in Texas, at the home of Houston Rockets. Two games at Little Caesars Arena - against Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors - follow, and that’s where the Pistons have picked up most of their points, but there’s a niggling feeling around HQ that has us backing them to provide a huge upset. That said, let’s hope that a perfect game week doesn’t come down to this.

Moneyline - Detroit Pistons (3/1)
