Kansas City Chiefs at Houston Texans
After taking the Chiefs to their first Superbowl win in 50 years, Patrick Mahomes returns for the 2020 season as one of the most highly-decorated Quarterbacks in the NFL having signed the most expensive contract in the history of the league after playing just 2 seasons as a regular starter, it will be an interesting opener to the season seeing him being pit against the skill of Texan Quarterback Deshaun Watson who also managed to land himself a pretty contract this Summer following his performance in the 2019/20 season - we expect to see a high-scoring opening play for both teams involved but there’s a high chance that the Chiefs will clinch this first win, especially with Mahomes in lead.
Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens
Any game which features Lamar Jackson is definitely one to watch. He gave a sensational performance as the Ravens Quarterback last season and it will be extremely interesting to see how the rest of the league fare against the unique offense that Baltimore has in tow this year. On paper, it appears that the Browns have a fantastic squad lined up with some NFL superstars sitting pretty in their player bank, however, last season the Cleveland Browns struggled to pull it together and push themselves away from the unfortunate reputation they have formed over the years - but is it possible new head coach Kevin Stefanski could find a way to keep his team happy and get them to reveal a higher standard of play? With this starting game, we think the home team will have an advantage over the Browns, standing with a tighter team and that often important home edge, the Baltimore Ravens are likely to secure their first win of the season on Sunday.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints
Following his move during the Summer, all eyes will be drawn towards Tom Brady to see how he fares in his first game with the Buccaneers and subsequently his first-ever game without the guidance and coaching of the Patriots Bill Belichick. It’s arguable that this won’t be an easy ride for Brady despite his top-class reputation as the Saints come led by Drew Brees and coached by Sean Payton, who has been dubbed an offensive genius. Whilst we won’t put anything past the previously unstoppable Tom Brady, who also has the help of Bruce Arians, there is a chance that the Saints will swoop in to steal the first win this weekend.
