Rugby League Betting at 21.co.uk
Rugby League traces its roots back to northern England and this is where the majority of the Super League teams play. From the rivalry on the Humber between Hull and Hull KR on the east coast, to the powerhouses of the sport on the west coast in St Helens and Warrington, there are no less than ten teams in northern England. London Broncos are the lone representative of the south of England and Catalan Dragons, based in Perpignan in France, complete the league. Outside of England there is large interest in Australia and New Zealand. National Rugby League is the main league in Australia with the season running from February to September. In total, Rugby League is played in no fewer than 70 countries around the globe. 21.co.uk’s Rugby League Betting Markets
There are a vast number of rugby league markets available on any game here at 21.co.uk’s online casino. While winner markets are available, as you would expect, you can also bet on the margin of victory for each side - in both 5 point intervals or the 5 way market. Similar to the number of frames in snooker betting, you can also bet on if the number of tries in a match will be even or odd. There are also a wide range of handicap markets available. Alongside the standard full time handicap market, you can also find most tries with handicap, 3 way handicap and 1st half 3 way handicap. There are a total of 24 markets on most matches so there is plenty to choose from if these aren’t to your liking.
Rugby League Betting Strategy and Tips
Rugby League online betting strategy follows pretty much the same key points as most other team sports. The main factors are form, ability of the team and home advantage. Whether a team is home or away isn’t as much of an advantage as it is in sports such as football, due to the high scoring nature of the sport, but it is still worth considering. The ability of the team, after accounting for injuries, is probably the main factor, but whether a team is in good form or not is also worth thinking about, as teams on good runs generally perform better.
Rugby League Betting Glossary
Rugby League betting markets can be hard to understand for the newcomer so we’ve defined some of the terms right here.
Double Result - The market where you bet on the winner, if any, of each half of a game. If you think the home team will win the first half but the away team will win the second half then you bet on 1/2. Another example would be X/2 if you think the first half will be a draw but the away team will win the second.
Team to Score Most Tries 3 Way - This is the market where you bet on which team, if any, will score the most tries in a match. If you think both teams will score the same then you can bet on X.
Over/Under 10 Min - This is where you bet on whether you think there will be over or under a certain number of points in the first 10 minutes of a game. Over 4.5, for example, would be a bet on there being over 4.5 points inside the first 10 minutes.
The Biggest Rugby League Events
The Rugby League World Cup - which is contested every four years - is arguably the biggest prize in the sport. Only three teams have managed to lift the Paul Barriere trophy. Great Britain (who now compete as separate home nations) have won the trophy three times. Aside from New Zealand’s sole triumph in 2008, Australia have a clean sweep on all the other tournaments, winning it no less than 11 times - most recently in 2017. In England the main domestic competition that is contested is the Super League which culminates in the Grand Final. There is also the Challenge Cup which is a FA Cup-style knockout tournament between Rugby League clubs in England.
