Handicap Betting guide

One of the most popular bets globally is the Handicap bet. Originally a bet commonly found in the Asian markets, this is now a worldwide bet that you can commonly find in all sports, including Football, Tennis, and Basketball! These bets make one team or player begin with either a 1.5/2.5/3.5 or higher advantage, and you’re betting that the other will win. So, for example:

Manchester City -1.5 to beat Man United.

This means that Manchester City would have to beat Man United by two goals for you to win this bet. Handicap bets are beneficial in situations where you believe that one team has a significant advantage and will win by a certain amount of goals. Ante Betting Guide

An Ante Bet is also known as a future bet, meaning they are bets that players put on in the long-term, such as an event’s outcome. This is a bet that most players put on before a tournament such as Wimbledon or the Grand National race. Betting in advance has more significant risks but usually enhanced odds and greater rewards. For example, if you place a bet on a horse to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup, its odds are going to be substantially higher on January 1st than they are on race day. Single Bets Guide

Number of Bets: - 1

Number of Selections: 1

Winners Needed to win: 1

Description

A single bet is the act of betting on a single event. To do this, simply select whatever bet you wish to place and select a stake you wish to play with. This is the option most like playing at an online casino and is the most basic bet that players can put on. This is commonly used for bets that are over evens that you do not wish to combine with other bets. Two examples of this would be betting on Manchester City to win the Champions League or for Al Boum Photo to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Double Bets Guide

Number of Bets: 1

Number of Selections: 2

Number of Winners to Be Successful: 2

Description

A double is when you bet on two outcomes, with both of them needing to happen in order to win. To do this, players must place both bets into their betslip at the same time and we will combine the odds to create a double bet. These kinds of bets are often placed with above evens bets to create bets of 5/1-10/1. Not all bets can be combined, however, and it will often depend on the sport’s limitations on whether you can place your bet. For example, you could place a bet on both Manchester City to win the Champions League and Al Boum Photo to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Treble Betting Guide

Number of Bets: 1

Number of Selections: 3

Number of Winners to Be Successful: 3

Description

A treble is when you place a bet on three different outcomes, which will all need to win in order for your bet to win. To set this bet, players must combine three combinable bets together to create one bet. These kinds of bets are typically created with three bets that you’re fairly certain will happen but still contain decent odds. Good examples of this are football matches where an out of form mid-table team come up against an in-form relegation-threatened side at the end of the season. This is one step before an accumulator and is recommended for midweek betting when there are few sporting events on.

Accumulator Betting Guide

Number of Bets: 1

Number of Selections: As many as chosen

Number of Winners to Be Successful: As many selections as chosen

Description

Accumulators are often referred to as 4-folds, 5-folds etc, depending on the number of selections in the bet. Each leg will need to win in order for the accumulator to pay out. Accumulators are commonly created for Football betting; however, they can be used across various events, including Horse Racing and Cricket. Trixie Betting Guide

Number of Bets: 4

Number of Selections: 3

Number of Winners to Be Successful: 2

A Trixie can be placed when you are betting on three different events. A trixie consists of three doubles and one treble, including different combinations of your events for a total of four bets. For example, if your events were given labels 1, 2 and 3, your combinations would be as follows: 1-2, 1-3, 2-3 and 1-2-3.

So let’s say, for example, you’re placing three bets which are:

  • Manchester City to beat Manchester United
  • England to beat India
  • Rafael Nadal to beat Roger Federer

You would have four bets which are:

  • Man City and England to win.
  • Man City and Nadal to win.
  • England and Nadal to win.
  • Man City, England and Nadal to win.

These bets often cost more than a standard bet as your stake is multiplied by four. However, if you think one selection may let you down, a Trixie bet is the way to go.

Patent Betting Guide

Number of Bets:7

Number of Selections: 3

Number of Winners to Be Successful: 2

A Patent can also be placed when betting on three different events. Similarly to a Trixie, a patent includes three doubles and a treble, but also includes three singles for a total of seven bets. If bets were labelled 1, 2, and 3, your bets would be: 1, 2, 3, 1-2, 1-3, 2-3, 1-2-3.

So, let’s repeat our Trixie bet with:

  • Manchester City to beat Manchester United
  • England to beat India
  • Rafael Nadal to beat Roger Federer

You would have seven bets which are:

  • Man City to win.
  • England to win.
  • Rafael Nadal to win.
  • Man City and England to win.
  • Man City and Nadal to win.
  • England and Nadal to win.
  • Man City, England and Nadal to win.

This is basically the same as a Trixie bet with the addition of single bets. Realistically, if you’re looking to make money off these bets, each selection should be around 4/1.

Yankee Betting Guide

Number of Bets: 11

Number of Selections: 4

Number of Winners to Be Successful: 2

A Yankee can be placed when betting on four different outcomes. There will be 11 different bets altogether, including six doubles, four trebles and one four-fold accumulator. The 11 bets would be: 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, 2-3, 2-4, 3-4, 1-2-3, 2-3-4, 1-2-4, 1-3-4 and 1-2-3-4.

So, let’s take the three bets we had earlier and just add one selection.

  • Manchester City to beat Manchester United
  • England to beat India
  • Rafael Nadal to beat Roger Federer
  • Tyson Fury to beat Anthony Joshua

You would have seven bets which are:

  • Man City and England to win.
  • Man City and Rafael Nadal to win.
  • Man City and Tyson Fury to win.
  • England and Nadal to win.
  • England and Fury to win.
  • Nadal and Fury to win.
  • Man City, England and Nadal to win.
  • England, Nadal and Fury to win.
  • Man City, Nadal and Fury to win.
  • Man City, England and Fury to win.
  • Man City, England, Nadal and Fury to win.

Lucky 15 Betting Guide

Number of Bets: 15

Number of Selections: 4

Number of Winners to Be Successful: 1

Similarly to a Yankee, a Lucky 15 is placed on four different selections; however, it will also include four singles. For a total of 15 bets, there will be four singles, six doubles, four trebles and one four-fold. The bets would be as follows: 1, 2, 3 ,4, 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, 2-3, 2-4, 3-4, 1-2-3, 2-3-4, 1-2-4, 1-3-4 and 1-2-3-4.

From this point on, we won’t add selections for bets but we’ll simply add the bare minimum that players need to win.

With a Lucky 15 bet, any selection provides a win. However, as your stake is 15x, single wins likely won’t benefit you as you’ll need over 15/1 odds to win to make a profit. So with our four selections, all you would need are:

  • Manchester City to beat Manchester United
  • England to beat India
  • Rafael Nadal to beat Roger Federer
  • Tyson Fury to beat Anthony Joshua

Given the odds on these bets would be quite low, you would likely need at least one treble to come off to make any profit.

Super Yankee Betting Guide

Number of Bets: 25

Number of Selections: 5

Number of Winners to Be Successful: 2

A Super Yankee, also known as a Canadian, is placed on five selections for a total of 25 bets. Your 25 bets will include 10 doubles, 10 trebles, four four-folds and one five-fold accumulator.

So, let’s take a look at the bare minimum players would need to land a win. In this situation, the bet is multiplied by 25, which means a £1 bet turns into a £25 bet. So, if we take our four selections and add on another, we would have:

  • Manchester City to beat Manchester United
  • England to beat India
  • Rafael Nadal to beat Roger Federer
  • Tyson Fury to beat Anthony Joshua
  • Al Boum Photo to win Gold Cup

We would simply need any combination of two wins or more to win some of our money back. However, as we are betting 25x the stake, we realistically need a treble back at least to stand any chance of making a profit.

Lucky 31 Betting Guide

Number of Bets: 31

Number of Selections: 5

Number of Winners to Be Successful: 1

A Lucky 31 works similarly to a Lucky 15, placing every possible combination of selections across 31 bets. Your bets will be five singles, 10 doubles, 10 trebles, four four-folds and one five-fold. Lucky 31s are particularly popular in Horse Racing betting. You can find Lucky 31s in our Cheltenham Betting Guide as we make our selections for all four days of action.

Heinz Betting Guide

Number of Bets: 57

Number of Selections: 6

Number of Winners to Be Successful: 2

A Heinz involves six different selections spread across 57 bets. Of your 57 different bets, there will be 15 doubles, 20 trebles, 15 four-folds, six five-folds and a single six-fold accumulator.

So with this bet, your stake will be multiplied by 57, meaning that a £1 bet is converted into a £57 bet. However, players need a combination of any two selections to land a win. However, your total wins will have to be over 57/1 to make a profit. This is another bet that is significantly more popular in Horse Racing than anywhere else. We do not recommend using a Heinz bet on the likes of Football and Tennis.

Lucky 63 Betting Guide

Number of Bets: 63

Number of Selections: 6

Number of Winners to Be Successful: 1

Following Lucky 15 and Lucky 31, Lucky 63 combines six different selections with every different combination so that only one winner is needed. In a Lucky 63, there will be six singles, 15 doubles, 20 trebles, 15 four-folds, six five-folds and one six-fold accumulator.

In this instance, we recommend referring back to our Lucky 31, as this bet is exactly the same but at significantly higher stakes. Placing £1 on this bet will mean you’re actually staking £63 and you’ll need to land a combined total of 63/1 to earn a profit.

Super Heinz Betting Guide

Number of Bets: 120

Number of Selections: 7

Number of Winners to Be Successful: 2

A Super Heinz is the only bet that can be placed with a combined seven selections, other than a standard seven-fold accumulator. The Super Heinz has a combined 120 bets, including 21 doubles, 35 trebles, 35 four-folds, 21 five-folds, seven six-folds and one seven-fold.

With a Super Heinz bet, players need at least one double to come through to win and, as their £1 stake would be converted into a £120 bet, it is no surprise that this is another bet that is common in the Horse Racing world but very unpopular elsewhere.

Goliath Betting Guide

Number of Bets: 247

Number of Selections: 8

Number of Winners to Be Successful: 2

The largest number of bets that can be placed at one time is called a Goliath. A Goliath combines eight different selections for a total of 247 bets. In a Goliath, there are 28 doubles, 56 trebles, 70 four-folds, 56 five-folds, 28 six-folds, eight seven-folds and one eight-fold accumulator.

You’re reading that correctly. If you wish to place this bet, then your £1 stake would be turned into a £247 bet. However, with 247 different bets available, there are more chances to win than in any other bet. It is common for players to stick a £1 bet on a day of Horse Racing such as the Cheltenham Festival.

Forecasts Betting Guide

Number of Bets: 1

Number of Selections: 2

Number of Winners to Be Successful: 1

A Forecast is when you choose two different horses in a race. You will then have to choose which horse you think will win and which horse you think will finish second. In order for your bet to win, both of your selections will have to finish in the correct place.

So, let’s say you were looking to place a bet on Cheltenham’s Gold Cup this year and you think that Al Boum Photo will win and Santini will finish in second place. The two stakes will be combined to give you a forecast bet.

Tricast Betting Guide

Number of Bets: 1

Number of Selections: 3

Number of Winners to Be Successful: 3

Similar to a Forecast, a Tricast works exactly the same way but includes three horses, rather than two. Just like a Forecast, all selections will need to finish in your predicted places in order for the bet to settle as a win.
