NBA Week Four Betting Tips
Last week saw a fair number of shocks in the NBA, so coming into this week there are a few situations that may take a moment to get your head around. In 21.co.uk’s NBA season preview, we said that the Golden State Warriors would have an underwhelming season, but even we didn’t predict they’d be rock bottom of the Western Conference having completed ten games. Meanwhile the Brooklyn Nets need to recover from their negative win-loss record, although that will be easier said than done. Our resident tipster previews their crucial matchups, as well as three other big games, in our NBA betting tips for week four.
Toronto Raptors @ LA Clippers, Tuesday 12th November, 03:30 GMT
LA Clippers will be relatively happy with their return from their opening nine games, although frustrating losses to Phoenix Suns and Utah Jazz keep them just behind the Western Conference leaders of LA Lakers and Denver Nuggets, a win over the reigning champions could see them move up in the rankings. The Clippers have thus far been unable to string more than two wins together, but having beaten Portland Trail Blazers in their last home contest, they’ll be confident here.
Toronto Raptors play at the Staples Center for the second time in little over 24 hours when they take on the Clippers, following their 113-104 victory against LA Lakers on Monday morning. In the Eastern Conference, they currently sit just behind Boston Celtics, who welcome Dallas Mavericks three hours before this meeting, but the Raptors will need to be at their best to knock them off their perch. We see this as a Clippers win.
New York Knicks @ Chicago Bulls, Wednesday 13th November, 01:00 GMT
Chicago Bulls would have liked to have been a little bit closer to the playoff positions than they currently are after ten games, although a couple of their seven defeats have only been by fine margins. When these two met at Madison Square Garden at the end of last month, the Knicks won 105-98 for their first win of the season, but the Bulls will be confident of dishing out a similar scoreline as they have home advantage this time around at the United Center.
New York Knicks travel to Chicago having lost 108-87 at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the early hours of Monday. The Knicks being bottom of the Eastern Conference is of no surprise, although they have pushed some of the NBA’s big teams all the way in their matches. Still, they’ve been very inconsistent, and with their only road win coming against Dallas Mavericks, this could be a long night for them.
Golden State Warriors @ LA Lakers, Thursday 14th November, 03:00 GMT
Despite losing to Toronto Raptors on Monday morning, LA Lakers will know that this is a difficult but potentially rewarding week. They travel to Phoenix Suns before they get to this game, the Suns have been a menace to several other top teams so far this season, having beaten LA Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Brooklyn Nets. If they can get through that, the Lakers will be confident of two home wins over the Warriors and Sacramento Kings.
Golden State Warriors need to find a way to turn around their season, that much is clear. Eight losses from their opening ten games, with five of those coming since Steph Curry’s injury, they take on Utah Jazz on Tuesday morning. That game is surely crucial to how the rest of their week will go, with this encounter being followed by a home meeting with the high-flying Boston Celtics, two tricky ties that could see the Warriors continue to languish at the foot of the Western Conference.
Brooklyn Nets @ Denver Nuggets, Friday 15th November, 03:30 GMT
At 21.co.uk, we backed Denver Nuggets to finish in the top two of the Western Conference, and so it’s great to see them delivering on their hype. An entertaining overtime win at Minnesota Timberwolves has started their week fantastically, and if they can see off the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday morning they’ll be brimming with confidence ahead of closing their week with this home meeting with the Nets and making the trip to Memphis Grizzlies.
Brooklyn Nets travel to Utah Jazz before their fourth of five straight games on the road at Denver’s Pepsi Center. In that run, they’ve earned a 4-point win at Portland Trail Blazers, before succumbing to a 26-point loss at Phoenix Suns. The Nets aren’t performing anything as they’d hoped, and as a result, they’re lacking momentum and confidence. With that in mind, we can see them slipping to another loss at the home of the Nuggets, but we fancy them to beat the spread.
Indiana Pacers @ Houston Rockets, Saturday 16th November, 01:00 GMT
Houston Rockets have won three on the spin at the time of writing, although they’ve been against strugglers Memphis Grizzlies, Golden State Warriors, and Chicago Bulls. A trip to New Orleans Pelicans could also prove fruitful, but a clash with LA Clippers at the Toyota Center before they welcome Indiana Pacers to the same venue will certainly be tougher. If they can get through those, it will have been a fantastic week for the Rockets.
Indiana Pacers will be fresh off a home encounter with Oklahoma City Thunder, and victory in that one will see them make the trip down to Texas having won four in a row. At 21.co.uk, we thought the Pacers might be performing slightly better overall, but they’ve had a couple of strange slip-ups. In our NBA Week 3 Betting Tips, we correctly predicted the Rockets to decimate the Warriors, but the Pacers will be a tougher prospect.
